Abide in My Love

‘Abide in my love’ – Jesus

His love is patient; His love is kind. He always protects and is forever trustworthy. He is our eternal hope, and in Him, we will always prevail—for He never fails.

To doubt these truths is to step away from the joy of abiding in His love. God is love, and in these things (and so much more), we are invited to dwell. He is calling His Bride into deeper intimacy, into the very center of His love, where she will know Him intimately and be fully known by Him. It is here, in this sacred space, that our hearts are continually surrendered and intertwined to His, and the two become one.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” —Genesis 2:24

The Apostle Paul calls this mystery profound, yet it speaks of Christ and the Church.

There is always a necessity to leave in order to cleave. The Bride also partakes in this journey, just as we see in Genesis 24 when Rebekah left her home to be joined with Isaac. Though she had never seen her bridegroom, she trusted the invitation and the leading of the servant—a figure of the Holy Spirit.

You can enter into the posture of abiding, but you can also depart from it. Nothing can separate us from the love of God; that door remains open. So today, I encourage you to abide in His love and be an instrument of His love by loving others wherever He has placed you.

If you put everything else aside simply to abide, would that be enough?

I hear in my spirit the gentle voice of our Beloved saying, “Abide, my love.”
