“This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.” – Psalm 119:50 NKJV
The Pharisees of Jesus’ day knew the Scriptures inside and out, yet they missed the living Word standing before them (John 5:39-40). Similarly, if our interaction with the Word is for mental ascension, we remain spiritually unchanged.
The importance of knowing the God of Scripture far outweighs merely knowing scriptures about God.
His Word far exceeds a collection of sacred texts—to the hungry soul it becomes a divine invitation for deep intimacy with a Creator intentional in His love toward us. To read Scripture with the mind alone is informational and confines its true purpose, but feeding from the heart is where its true worth is found. For the knowledge of God is not intellectual comprehension but deep transformation. The study of Scripture, therefore, is not an academic exercise but a spiritual journey—one that renews the mind, nourishes the soul, and aligns the heart with the very heartbeat of God.
To glean from the Word is not measured by how much we’ve read, but by whether we paused long enough for the Spirit to impart its life within. — Selah
