“I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 89:1 (ESV)
As this precious verse declares, the love and faithfulness of God are the very essence meant to permeate every generation.. surely it’s an offering pleasing in His sight. Yes, God sees the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts, just as Psalm 19:14 reminds us, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight…”
Truly, our words hold the power of life and death. That power becomes even more profound when what we speak flows from the glory filled throne room of God. You may know that righteousness and justice form the foundation of His throne, but what flows outward from it is His eternal steadfast love and faithfulness. Some translations call them truth and mercy, but the principle remains the same.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.” Psalm 89:14 ESV
Here’s the message: if you desire to align yourself with the throne of God, His presence, then you must exercise these two things. From an inward turned heart, fully embrace this divine love and faithfulness. How? Pour out whatever measure of faith and love you currently have and allow the love and faith of God to fill you time and time again without measure. Whatever you receive, offer it back to Him because our lives are a continual response to His goodness.
This when exercised will be a powerful witness to every generation as it will transform you day by day and yourselves will embody this divine nature. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
We see this extension of Gods throne perfectly embodied in the One who left this very throne of His Father.. the Word made flesh, the full revelation of God’s divine nature of steadfast love and faithfulness – Jesus, our beloved Saviour, Friend, and Bridegroom. Embrace in faith His love and faithfulness and without doubt you’ll find yourself before His countenance.
