Those Who Hope in Me Will Not Be Disappointed

January 21, 2021

The world has become such a noisy place! Whether we realise it or not, we live our life constantly bombarded with someone else’s agenda or narrative. From the roadside billboards, to the pop ups on our media screens, from the news platforms to the political broadcast, even from the virtual pulpit to the widespread Christian platforms.

No wonder we can feel at times, overwhelmed, confused and just plain exhausted. Darkness pervades upon the world in which we live, and it’s easy to find ourselves being swept along by a narrative that we feel pressured to agree with though deep within we feel the disquiet in our spirit. If only someone would speak plainly, if only there were a promise we could hold onto. Is there someone who would simply tell us the truth, whose word is unbreakable, and who cannot lie?

There is only One who fits that description, and the Bible says that “God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear”. If you seek you will find, because God has not hidden His purpose away, only accessible to the “elite” few, but has made it very clear. Furthermore, this promise of purpose, which expresses God’s intentionality towards us is for our great encouragement, so that by it we might flee to take hold of the hope set before us.

It is this hope that is on offer for us today, and if we grasp it and hold onto it tightly, this hope will serve us well as an anchor to our soul. No longer drifting by the world’s narrative, or that of the politician or the media, but anchored on the rock that is unshakeable, unchanging and unbreakable. Put your hope in the Eternal Purpose of God today, never let it go, never let it stray from your mind or heart. God who has promised is faithful. In the final reckoning, it will be His Word, and His promise to you that will bring you safely home. Selah
